“With this project, not only is a new building being created, but an important step is also being taken to strengthen the social and cultural cohesion of the community.”
The new church community center in Kleinraming is located at Sr. Mercedes Square, directly in front of the former school building, now the parish house. The design incorporates architectural elements from the surrounding area and blends harmoniously into the traditional village layout. A central feature is the continuation of the existing structure, with a green entrance arch symbolically forming a “green gate” marking the entrance to the center. This creates a framed small courtyard as a gathering place.
The church community hall is the centerpiece of the new building. Its nearly square shape allows for flexible use, accommodating various events and setups. Large windows facing the Ramingbach connect the room with nature, while skylights bring indirect northern light, creating a serene atmosphere suitable for both community events and sacred occasions.
Natural materials, especially wood, dominate both the construction and surface design. The color scheme is intentionally kept neutral, giving space for personal interpretation and allowing the people inside to bring vibrancy to the space. Well-considered proportions, lighting, and materials ensure the building is both practical and aesthetically pleasing.
The planting of trees and maintenance of green spaces are designed to enhance the long-term appeal and revitalization of the village center.
